Design and operation of energy-efficient fluid bed systems – Integrated approach saves costs

Designing and operating fluid bed systems with energy efficiency: Systems for agglomeration, spray granulation and coating in the fluid bed are used in nearly all industries with the production and refinement of solid product forms. In addition to the material and application properties of the manufactured products their manufacturing costs can also be significantly influenced already during the design of the fluid bed systems.

Large-scale plant for continuous additive coating based on fluidized bed technology

Glatt Ingenieurtechnik GmbH has completed a fluid bed plant in Scandinavia for the continuous coating of additives with a capacity of several tons per hour. We spoke to Christian Heiermann, Engineering Sales Manager in the Food, Feed & Fine Chemicals Division, about this large-scale plant and about Glatt’s role as an engineering partner in a wide range of industrial sectors. Everything according to the rules – Hygiene design for fluid bed and spouted bed systems

Product safety for food, biotechnology or similar applications: Fluid bed and spouted bed systems of various designs and sizes are used for granulation, agglomeration, coating or heat transfer processes, such as drying or cooling, in various branches of industry. In addition to product properties, production and product safety are also essential elements in establishing such processes. In particular, the respective hygienic conditions require compliance with special planning and design principles in plant conception. (German article)

Dry material processing – From the feasibility study to the production plant

Glatt’s Technology Center in Weimar stands for innovative technologies for the production of granules and pellets from powders and/or solid-containing liquids. In the last 12 months alone, more than 120 customers from 17 countries used our advanced equipment to develop new product forms by feasibility studies or to optimize the properties of already established products for their production processes. Apparatuses and plants of different sizes are available for such studies – from a laboratory via a pilot up to a production scale.

Product safety for granulation and coating – Hygienic design for fluid bed and spouted bed systems

Fluid bed and spouted bed systems of various designs and sizes are used for granulation, agglomeration, coating and heat transfer processes in many branches of industry. Product safety is the top priority when establishing such processes. To ensure compliance with the relevant hygiene conditions, special planning and design principles are taken into account in the plant concept. These include steel construction, insulation, operating panels and wall penetrations. (German article)

Fluid Bed Coating – Changing Properties of Solids as Desired

Coating of particles is a critical process step for many manufacturing processes. After all, coating essentially determines the product quality. The appropriate process must be found to determine the properties of as needed for the application. The following article describes, what need to be considered when developing particles. (German article)

Cleanly separated – filters in fluid bed systems, an overview

For the production of granulates from solid and/or liquid raw materials and the coating of particles, fluid bed plants offer many possibilities for influencing the granulate properties. The process chamber of fluid bed systems must be permeable to the process gas at the bottom and at the top. It is usually bounded at the bottom by an inflow floor and at the top by a filter. The filter is thus of decisive importance for the process. (German article)

International competence in planning – Glatt Ingenieurtechnik plans and builds complex plant lines and production facilities

In 1991 Glatt Ingenieurtechnik was founded in Weimar as a subsidiary of Glatt GmbH Process Technology. For 20 years the plant engineering company from Thuringia has been a competent partner for process, plant and turnkey factory planning employing innovative technologies. Dr. Michael Reubold has interviewed Volker Saalfeld, manager of the Engineering Division about the development of the division and its future plans. (article in German language)
