Glatt powder synthesis and high-temperature fluidized bed for the design of efficient active materials
Catalyst materials are often very complex compounds of high-cost chemical elements. Glatt offers various technologies to achieve the largest possible active particle quantity with reduced material input.
Synthesized, catalytically active metal oxide
Reduction of particle size leads to increase of specific surface area (= surface area per unit weight). Glatt powder synthesis is used to produce such particles in the nano and low micrometer range. In a pulsating hot gas stream, even the smallest amounts of doping elements are homogeneously distributed in the product. The active material can be perfectly adapted to the application.

Alternatively, the catalytically active material can also be applied as a layer to a low-cost powdered carrier material, for example aluminum oxide. Depending on the product requirements, different technologies can be used in this process. In this case, too, very fine powders can be produced by means of Glatt powder synthesis. For powders with wider particle sizes and thicker layers, on the other hand, fluidized bed technology at correspondingly high temperatures proves to be more efficient. If required by the active material, coating and calcination in the high-temperature fluid bed can be carried out in one process step.

Various laboratory facilities and comprehensive analytical equipment are available for this purpose. On our pilot plants, we optimize the process and scale it up reliably to a stable and economical production scale. The results from this form the basis for the design and construction as well as the erection of your reactor or fluid bed or spouted bed plant, tailored to your requirements. As an alternative to our own process technology, we offer you the outsourcing of your production by means of contract manufacturing at Glatt.
