Glatt. Meet the Experts @ booth 6E163, Fi Food Ingredients Europe, 3-5 Dec 2019 in Paris, France

Fi Food Ingredients Europe 2019

03.12. – 05.12.2019

Paris, France

At Fi Europe 2019 in Paris, plant engineering and process development specialist Glatt Ingenieurtechnik will present effective methods for enhanced product design with natural ingredients for sports nutrition, dietary supplements and beverage applications.

Glatt at booth 6E163: sophisticated product design with fluid bed and spouted bed technologies.

In many industries, factors such as nutritional requirements, climate change, the debate on plastic waste and the increasing relevance of online media have prompted a shift away from traditional thinking. More and more manufacturers are responding to the need to replace certain ingredients and develop new formulations based on natural ingredients for increasingly health-oriented consumers.

For both applications, Glatt’s fluidized bed and spouted bed technologies offer unique benefits in terms of particle design. Sensitive natural ingredients such as vitamins and minerals, as well as fragrances, aromas and other active ingredients, can be produced, protected and refined using these technologies. In a single process step, for example, powders and liquids are turned into dust-free, free-flowing granulates and pellets that are easy to dose. By using spray granulation, spray agglomeration, film coating, lipid coating and hotmelt coating or micro-encapsulation, it’s possible to functionalize particles and optimize the properties of sensitive raw materials for new formulations. And, owing to better, more specific and more reliable compacting and dosage processes, potential savings in packaging design can also be achieved. The custom dissolution properties of vitamin tablets, the optimized release behaviour of food supplement capsules and the homogenous distribution of active ingredients are all product advantages that consumers relate to and use to inform their purchasing decisions.

Sales Manager Lutz Heinzl comments: “As a sought-after technology partner for project-specific processes and products that we develop with our customers, we are very close to the market. This expertise is particularly valuable during the concept phase, which is why our customers benefit from the know-how we gain during the development processes in our fields of competence and in cooperation with our university network and research partners.” In addition, visitors can learn about how specific particle structures can be designed using technical system configurations and which drying principles and technologies are essential for optimum product performance.
