The processing of solvent-containing extracts and temperature-sensitive substances such as microorganisms or enzymes places high demands on process conditions, occupational safety and plant safety. Vacuum fluid bed technology is one way of implementing temperature-conserving processes. Live cells, products with organic solvents, but also agglomerates with high strength benefit from this. Design-based explosion protection is one of the most important precautionary measures for operating fluidized bed systems in a process-safe manner. Atex-compliant designs range from explosion-suppressed to explosion-pressure-resistant apparatus. (German article)
