‘PHOS4green. Phosphorus recovery from sewage sludge ash with heavy metal removal’

Save the date:

  • October 8, 2024 – 5:15 p.m. Conference Room 6
  • International Congress Center Dresden, Germany
  • Speaker is Dr. Johannes Buchheim, Glatt Ingenieurtechnik

Meet one of the Glatt experts for phosphorus recycling and learn more about the PHOS4green technology

After a brief introduction and basic statements on the element phosphorus as an indispensable nutrient and on sewage sludge ashes as a basis for fertilizers, the PHOS4green process is presented in detail.

In addition to technical solutions for removing heavy metals from ashes, the extraction of the bound phosphate is explained.

You will also learn how flexibly PHOS4green can be used to adjust the quality of valuable materials.

The addition of selective heavy metal removal to PHOS4green minimizes unwanted ash components. Heavy metals are selectively removed using selected mineral acids. This process variant is suitable for ashes with low heavy metal concentrations. If double extraction is added to the basic process, both phosphorus and heavy metals can be extracted in two steps. This releases valuable material streams that offer additional potential for marketing as building materials or raw materials for hydrometallurgical recycling.

Specialists worldwide are currently conducting intensive research into concepts that can close the material cycle for phosphorus. One result of this research is Glatt’s two-stage PHOS4green technology, which breaks down this essential raw material from sewage sludge ash and then converts it residual-free into instantly usable fertilizer granules.

The technique has successfully been implemented at an industrial production plant in Haldensleben, Germany, in May 2021. The fluidized bed spray granulation plant in continuous operation can process up to 60,000 tonnes of phosphate-containing single fertilizers and compound fertilizers per year.

Please note: The lecture will be given in German language.

56. Power Plant Technology Colloquium 2024

The Technical University of Dresden has been organizing the Power Plant Technology Colloquium (KWTK) for 55 years. The congress has developed into a scientific and technical platform for the energy and power plant industry and is the venue for over 100 specialist lectures and the company exhibition (2023: 98 exhibitors). The KWTK welcomes around 1,000 participants every year, primarily from the industry.

The 56th Power Plant Technology Colloquium will take place on October 8 and 9, 2024

Here you’ll find more information on the event program.
