Meet the Glatt experts at the 24th Microencapsulation Industrial Convention

Find out more about how Glatt, as a plant manufacturer and expert in technologies and processes for particle design, is meeting the current requirements from the powder processing industry. In their presentation “Trends and challenges in fluid bed encapsulation processes”, Katja Oppermann and Didier Schons, both Glatt Ingenieurtechnik, will explain which options are opened up by adapted technological concepts.

Meet the Glatt experts at the ChemProTech India 2022

Free-flowing granules and pellets from liquids and powders using innovative fluid bed and spouted bed technology at Booth G12 in Hall 1. With state-of-the-art fluid bed and spouted bed technologies, Glatt offers intelligent particle design to dry, shape and functionalize powders and granules with the desired properties in just one process step, improving their application and handling.

Glatt expands technology center with new laboratory plant for powder synthesis

In January 2022, plant manufacturer and process expert, Glatt Ingenieurtechnik, expanded its powder synthesis capacity at the company’s technology center in Weimar. The newly installed system ensures a homogenous process temperature throughout the entire length of the ProAPP® 80 HT reactor or the targeted adjustment of temperature gradients. This allows different process steps to be combined.

Cost-efficient synthesis processes for the production of BSCF powder systems in pulsating gas flow (poster)

SaMBa research project for a novel fabrication process for high permeability oxygen membranes and development of an innovative membrane connection plate for oxygen generators: “Mixed ionic electronic conductor” (MIEC) Membranes are specialized single phase materials which exhibit significant electron and ionic conductivity. Neutral molecules can be transported through a solid membrane and separated from other components. BSCF (barium-strontium-cobalt-iron oxide) enables oxygen exchange. Research focuses on the production of BSCF by Glatt powder synthesis and the subsequent production of the membranes for oxygen separation from air.

Spray agglomerating plant-based milk alternatives for optimised product properties

Powdery substances often cause problems during dosing, filling and transport because of their high dust content and poor flowability. Low solubilities and dispersing properties also impair the application of the end product. With the help of fluidised bed spray agglomeration, the size distribution and structure of difficult-to-process particles can be specifically adjusted and improved.

Spray (micro) encapsulation of oxidation and light-sensitive volatile substances in matrix form (Poster)

The poster reports a case study involving the spray granulation of a solution using continuous fluidized bed and spouted processing.
Based on various experiments in laboratory and pilot scale a statistical process model was derived based on artificial neural networks. A parameter study and sensitivity analysis was performed to determine the main process conditions and formulation variables. The multi-dimensional model of the process supported the optimization of product properties (e.g. particle size, particle sphericity) and related process conditions (e.g. product temperature, spray rate).

New options in product design for high performance detergent applications (Poster)

Glatt technologies are usable to add value or improve product properties of dry detergent formulations. Liquids or powders can be processed to innovative products. Benefits of technology. Fluidized and spouted bed equipment. Strategy for product and process development. Case study »Homogeneity of mixture«. Case study »Chemical reaction and granulation«. Case study »Granulation of polymers or surfactants«. Case study »Coated enzyme granules«.

Growing the German phosphate industry

Part 1 of this article will highlight a scientific study on the long-term bioavailability of the nutrients in different phosphorus fertilizers. Part 2 will provide a report on the first German production plant and present a research project in the Frankfurt Rhine-Main area. Jan Kirchhof, Glatt Ingenieurtechnik GmbH, Germany, reports on a laboratory experiment with phosphorus fertilizers and two current projects.

Precision Landing with Special Plant Engineering

Dr.-Ing. Viktor Drescher, Business Development and Product Manager Thermal Powder Synthesis, Glatt Ingenieurtechnik GmbH: “Plant concepts must be oriented to the customer, not the other way around.” Glatt, the plant manufacturer and process expert, accompanies users along the entire value chain – from the initial idea through feasibility studies and process development right through to the to the construction of the production facility. Novel plant concepts are are increasingly in demand. (Article in German language)
